This unlikely photo shows a phenomenon called cross sea, and it’s basically the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. In surface navigation, a cross sea is a sea state with two wave systems traveling at oblique angles. Waves generated by the new wind run at an angle to the old, creating a shifting, dangerous pattern. Until the older waves have dissipated, they create a sea hazard among the most perilous. (Source)

Thank you @essenaoneill for finally exposing the harsh truth about social media and it’s powerful effects, especially with my generation and younger. It’s about time people start realizing that it’s just an endless cycle of comparison and judgment – and we are addicted to it! We live in a society where people are so consumed by appearances, popularity, and having fun on social media that our self-worth is now only validated through likes and pictures. We waste so much of our time creating these contrived images on the internet, but for what reason? What are we trying to prove? So all I’m saying is that maybe we should spend less time living life through our phones and actually focus on our “#goals” in life, enjoy the time spent with the people you’re with, and educate yourself with real world problems (not with what the Kardashians are up to). I no longer want to live my life through the approval of others or spend my time aimlessly scrolling through Instagram/Facebook/etc. when they serve no real purpose to me. The way that we use social media is toxic and unproductive, and I have felt this way about it for a long time. So until I find an honest use for it, then this is goodbye.
